Welcome to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Flatbush

“Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side …”

John 20:25

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Flatbush sits at the Table Fellowship of all believers. In the power of the Holy Spirit, the Apostolic Witness moves us to signify Christ in his wounds and call him Savior. What strange witness this is, hope in Christ crucified: In the throes of death, Savior; in God—forsakenness, God. At Trinity church we confess this Son and his Father, and the Holy Spirit in whom the Son loves the Father and the Father eternally begets the Son.  We confess as such because this God has become our salvation.  Because, though we do not see him, yet in Word and Sacrament, faith intimates eternity in our hearts and we remember that we know only in part. We remember that our present affliction is the part better known by us. That is, we remember Jesus and his words, “come to me ye that are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”

Finally, this gentle God—the Holy Spirit, “the Lord, the giver of life”— leads us into an effective consolation that boasts of the authority of Christ not only Crucified but also Resurrected , Ascended and Seated at the Right hand of the Father!

Given the critical need for the consolation of afflicted consciousness; and given our experience of the saving and sanctifying kindness of the Triune God who is for and with us, is it any wonder that at Trinity Church of Flatbush we make our own the words of the apostle Paul ...

“I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the
sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death.”

Philippians 3.10
